Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken, skin-side down. Cook 2-3 min. on each side or until golden brown. Remove chicken from skillet. Step 2: Add onions to same skillet on medium-high heat. Cook 5-7 min. or until translucent, stirring often. Stir in garlic; cook 30 seconds. Transfer mixture to slow cooker.
